Twilight League

The Van Montague Memorial Twilight League — ALCC's evening league dating back to the 1970s.

History of the ALCC Twilight League

Since the 1970s, American Legion Country Club has played host to a men’s Twilight League that begins on Thursdays in May and concludes in August or September. The league has been run predominantly by its members for the past 25 years. In 2009, the league was renamed the Van Montague Memorial Twilight League, in honor of a league member and longtime supporter who passed away.

The league consists of 6–12 teams with 8-man rosters. Schedules are built to alternate nines each week from front to back. Handicaps are calculated weekly to ensure competitive, fair play. Each week, two teams of four golfers go head-to-head in A-B-C-D format, with skill prizes and a weekly skins game.

In 2018, the league went on hiatus and was replaced with a weekly Hollywood-style league.
